TAYLORTOWN COUPON PREVIEW
I was asked how I know how many papers to buy on Sunday. I always buy at least 2 and I get 2-3 from people I know who get the paper who do not use coupons...no idea why not..but anyways on Thursday Tayortown will post the coupons for the coming Sunday.
http://www.taylortownpreview.com/id79.htm
I have to say they do not always match the IN coupons but are close. IF there is 4 x's the coupon I know I will use then the price of the paper I buy more. If your Sunday paper is $2.00 there would have to be $8.00 worth of coupons in each paper for me to buy than 2. I have been known to buy 8 papers at times. It really depends on what you buy and the stores in your area so its not something anyone else can answer for you. Buy 2 and if you wish you had more..next time buy 3 or 4.
Sometimes I do order just the coupons I want and there is only one site I use to buy coupons from and have never any problems. I buy a 'gift card' for $20 or so and use it until its gone and then buy another one. I like being able to buy cut coupons but you have to be careful on the price..its not a good deal if you spend .10 on a coupon + mailing cost to save .50!
Here is the site I do use. She is quick at mailing them out and you can email her any questions you have. I have found her to be honest and easy to work with. I wanted 30 of the sure deorderants coupons a while back for a shelter box we were doing and she mailed them overnight at very little cost when I told her I had 3 days before the sale ended and it was a church backed shelter.

Take what ever coupons you have on hand and head over to K-mart. Make the most of what you have. With that said I also have to say that K-mart is a bit high priced. If you do not have a coupon of .75 or higher that they will double I think you can do better at Krogers and other places that double .50 and under. The things I saw that were not on sale were about 15% higher than other stores..so watch what you buy.
The bad thing of doubles is you may want to buy items you do not need..unless its FREE or its something you will use in the next 6 months and its 60% off or more don't buy it. If you giving away items to shelters and such then look for items that are 80% off or more. There are great sales and coupons coming out all the time, wait for the next sale.
Let me know what deals you found this week at K-mart.
Doug and I went to Indy tonight to have dinner with our kids and our perfect little angel..otherwise known as Princess Ellie. Since we were there I just could not pass up going into K-Mart. Here are some of the deals we found tonight. I have to say there is a good reason I take my hubby with me (he is so great at these things..will shop for hours), you can only use four of the same coupons and a total of 75 coupons per person per day..so I take him so I can double the items in one trip one day.

FYI and Coupon Book
$10 in Betty Crocker coupons..you have to sign up for their web mail but if you don't like it you can always cancel it. I find their emails helpful, time saving and often they have coupons in their web mails.
This and other coupons are on a site called Penny Pincher. I have used this for sometime now and think its worth signing up for.
http://mailcenter2.comcast.net/wmc/v/wm/4908E18F0004E1710000395122058863600A0007999D0A080C0E0A9D9F0E?cmd=Show&no=57&uid=59277&sid=c0
Give it a try and see what you think. I do not link very many sites from here but this is one I think is worth the mail.
FYI: Anyone who is doing a lot of couponing on the web may want to think about getting an email address only for coupon/saving sites and web mails. I did this a few years ago and it saves a lot of headaches. Sometimes you may sign up for a site that will just fill your mail box with junk and sometimes your husband or kids or others who share your email will delete that coupon that you have been waiting for. Setting an email only for coupon and saving sites has worked well for me. Twice a week I set aside an hour or so to go through all the things in the mail box and as I said its working for me.
I got a few emails today asking how I keep my coupons. There are so many ways out there and there is always just sticking them in your pocket and going (I would suggest you not do this one) you will have to test a few and find what works well for you. Below is how I do mine and few I have tried in the past and a few I know of others doing.
1) SAVINGWITHASMILE way is to keep them all in a binder using baseball card holders and photo book refil sheets.
First you need to buy a binder with a zipper (important so coupons do not fall out). I paid $3.00 for mine after the back to school sales and know you find them on the internet for $10.00 and under, Staples is another place to look. I then divide the book into sections using regular notebook subject dividers. Some of the sections I have are Hair, Soap, Lanudry, Baking, Drinks, Canned, Frozen etc. You will find what works well for you. (if you want a full list of what I have let me know and I will email). Then I buy baseball card holders (the cheeper the better I like Walmart) most of your coupons will fit into these and you can put one facing each way which will give you 18 coupons per sheet. You will need to fold some of the coupons to get them to fit..but trust me its the best way to keep them all with you all the time. I use photo replacment sheets also for large (full page) coupons and others that just will not fit into the card holders.
2) MAKE A LIST AND TAKE Many people only take the coupons they think they will need. They sit down check out the ads and match coupons to what they want that week. They then only take those coupons and off to the store they go. (It never failed when I did this that when I got to the store there was an in store special of an item that I had coupons for but they were home..it did not take me long to figure out gas was lot more costly then taking all my coupons with me)
3)COUPON FILES There are 'coupon' files that you can pick up at most $-stores and Walmart, K-mart etc. These look a bit like a walet and they have are divided into about 1o slots for the type of coupons. (this is what I used when I first started but often could not find the coupons I wanted and never knew just what I had and often missed sales because of that)
4) SHOE BOX I have seen many people with shoe boxes. They divide the box into the same things you would use in #1 and it does fit nice into the front of the cart. If you have kids or drop this I see where you would have a mess on your hands, but the concept works well.
5) WHOLE INSERTS I have to say I have never done this one and do not understand it well. The idea is you use a coupon company like "couponmom" where you put in your area and the stores you shop at and she will send you a list telling of the best sales and what week the coupons you will need came out. You then pull the insert from that week, clip the coupon and off you go to store. I am sure this must work as many use it but its not something I wanted to do. Firs,t I am not going to PAY someone for something I can get for free. On many sites you can get the best buys in your area with out paying. Second, as I said before I think you miss sales not having all your coupons with you. Third, were is one going to keep all these inserts for months?
Hope this was of help. If you have more questions or if you would like help setting up a book let me know and I see what I can do.

MARSH COUPON
There is a new Marsh $5 off $30 it is good until 11/1/08. You can use it before you use your MC so it will help to bring that total down. Print the coupon. Spend $30 before coupons, give the cashier the Marsh coupon first THEN give her your other coupons.

It is a large coupon and will take the whole page to print it. One per person per check out.
Hope you are able to use this!

RAIN CHECKS
I got an email today letting me know some of you are having a hard time finding enough items in stock at your CVS to do the deals I posted. Here are a few ideas to help you.
1) Find when their truck is due in and shop about 4 hours after that. Ask them if they are getting the razor (or whatever) in soon.
2) Ask for RAIN checks. Sometimes I really think the rain checks are better. With a CVS rain check they will write it for sale price and its good forever...they have no date on them..but you should use it within a month or two.
If an items has ECB's on it they will write the rain check less the ECBs price. If a item is $9.99 and has a $4.00 ECB they will write the rain check for $5.99. When you find the item in stock you can use your MC (coupon) and still get the lower price with out putting out that extra money from your pocket. If you had a $3.00 coupon on this item you would give them the rain check making the item $5.99 then the $3.00 coupon making this item $2.99!
3) If you have more than one CVS in your area learn which store is better stocked for sales and try to shop early in the week. I try not to shop on Sunday but often go early Monday morning. The stores in my area get trucks on Thursday, so later that day seems also to be a good shopping time.
4) Get to know your CVS staff. If you only have one CVS and are having a hard time finding the sale items ask them to order it for you. Sometimes CVS is a bit slow at restocking items but if you ask they will order extras for you. They had Pert shampoo a few weeks ago that came out to be free with a MC, but the coupon was only good for a few more days. I asked them to order 8 bottles and they called when it came in! They want the sales as much as you want the deals so get to know them.
If you have any other ideas to help newer shoppers let me know and I will add them to this post.

IT'S A GOD HONORING THING..THATS WHY
I see we have a few new people reading this blog and some of you do not know me or why I am doing this. As you start to coupon you WILL find many things along the way to try and get you to "bend" off the legit path. Today when I was at K-mart there was a lady who keep 'slipping' in internet coupons as she was handing the cashier her coupons. You are not to use internet coupons at K-mart and this lady slipping them in was not only breaking the rules she was one of the reason that K-mart may not keep doing the double days. It cost each and everyone of us when someone does something like this. Because of this lady I want to be sure you each know how I feel about this.
Several months ago, I read a post at Amy's Humble Musings that comes to mind when I think of couponing. Here's an excerpt from that post:
"I’ve often told one of my toddling children to stay in the family room. Here’s what they do. They go to the edge of the family room where the carpet meets the tile in the kitchen, and then they put their fingers, toes, and miscellaneous body parts on the line. They look to see if I’m watching. They weigh all their options. If I’m far enough away, they might put a scraggly toenail over the line and wait.
"Christians are a lot like two-year-olds. They’ll read what the Bible says and then start looking for loopholes and lines. Instead of obeying the spirit of the command, they’ll look to see how much they can get away with before making a technical violation. Instead of just staying in the family room and enjoying it, they want to know what the rules should be if a meteor were to hit the house. It shouldn’t be this way."
The issue of coupon usage is the same. As you begin to browse the world of couponing, be aware that you'll run across many discussions over what is ethical - where the "line" is. But really, it's black and white. If you ever have questions about coupon usage, you should always go to the source (email or call CVS corporate, Walgreens corporate, etc.) and find out the rules or what their intentions are.
It breaks my heart as I have visited many couponing and frugality websites and/or blogs to read of so many people using coupons in ways other than intended, abusing the system and even using unauthorized coupons (sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly), in the name of "frugality" or "prudence" or "good stewardship". As Christians, we are required to play by the rules instead of trying to outsmart the system or look for loopholes. To be a GOOD steward of His money, first and foremost, we have to use it with 100% integrity. We're required to follow the letter of the law on coupons and on store policies, as well as the spirit of the law.
They say "ignorance is bliss". Sometimes I guess it is, in a way. If we don't find out for ourselves what the rules are, we can claim ignorance and just do what we feel like doing, or what works for us. Everyone can just do what they think is right - and with our fleshly natures that spells nothing but trouble! It can be tempting to not call and find out what the rules are, especially when you read about others getting such great deals. Unfortunately (and fortunately) though, God knows our hearts. He knows the "games" we play. And if we are going to claim to be followers of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, we have to live up to the standards that are layed out in the Bible as best we can. Keep your focus on God who is our Provider. We need to, as Amy put it, just "stay in the living room and enjoy it."
Before I sit down to "put together deals", I pray and ask the Lord to guide me in doing this, to keep me from being selfish (I know some of you shop the same stores I do) that my attitude toward this is to bring glory to my Lord and not to myself and that as other read it, it will bless them.
It has to be about honoring God.

KMart: Super Doubles--October 1-5, 2008 (possibly nationwide
KMart is doing it again! Many stores around the nation are offering Super Double Coupons from October 1 (that's today!) through October 5, 2008. Now if only I felt up to hot-and-heavy couponing!
The list of stores participating is here
http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dfshx3vs_16gzs3fcfd
sorry..looks like you will have to copy and paste..but all the indy stores around me on are the list..within 50 miles of Logansport.
I called my local Kmart and they said they were NOT participating. So, I called the Kmart Customer line @ 1-866-KMART-4-U and talked with a rep. I asked her for a list of participating stores and she said this was for all stores. I asked her how I could let my store know that they were to honor this and she put me on hold while she called and told them how to key it it manually!
So, call your local Kmart first and if they say no tell them to call the customer serv. # and let the rep call their store. She said all Kmart stores are to honor this deal.
I would love to hear if others of you have the same experience. Wouldn't it be cool if this deal was truly nationwide?
There are some exclusions and details which need to be noted: Coupons up to and including $2 will be doubled. No overage will be giving. Only 4 of the same coupon may be used per transaction. Limit of 75 coupons per customer per day. No printable coupons will be accepted.
That said, there are likely plenty of great deals to be had. Callis lists a bunch of deals she came up with here. If you come up with others or post about deal you find, please email me the link so I can add it to this post.
It's been so long since any store around here has had super doubles, I just might work up the courage to hit KMart myself! We'll see!
